Six decades into my life I am fascinated with my body and all it's marvelous workings. All of my adult life I have been focused on being healthy, and it has always felt like a struggle. It is only in the last couple of years as I have aggressively coerced my gut microbiome to change that I finally feel truly well. I was very unwell in 2020. At that point everything hurt. I mean everything, my skin hurt, my muscles and joints ached, and lightning bolts of pain would shoot through my nervous system. I had painful skin eruptions, and everything I ate ran right through me. The pain was chronic and intense to the point that some days I could barely walk or even get out of bed. My whole body was inflamed, and it was obvious to me that I was aging quickly. Now, here I am two years later feeling amazing. I could yammer on about what has changed but instead I give you two pictures of me. I have not had plastic surgery ever been touched by an esthetician. Recently I was walking down the street of my little town and a local acquaintance blurted out, "you look 10 years younger". I was surprised, but the mirror does not lie. My pursuit to shake up my microbiome was a desperate attempt to just feel better. I had no idea that it would transform my skin and reverse my grey hair. It has been, and continues to be, an interesting journey as I focus on living a joyful life. In future posts I will elaborate on what I have done to change my gut health and all things microbiome. At this point I don't believe in silver bullets, but I do believe in the land of steady habits.
Till next week. Smoochies, Cyfrin
